Leadership Summit 2021

This year’s Leadership Summit gathered aspiring and interested students to attend and participate in our Zoom event. Despite setbacks/boundaries due to lockdown, we received 60 sign-ups for the Summit and were even fortunate enough to host three influential individuals - Caitlin Regal (New Zealand Gold-Medalist Olympian), Michael Wood (Mount Roskill MP), and Jess B (New Zealand Musician), to speak about their individual experiences regarding leadership. The speeches, which discussed both their successes and hardships as a leader were inspirational for the youth that were involved with the event. Our aim; to encourage young people to discover their capabilities, and take their first step towards engaging with the wider community in order to build up their leadership skills, was achieved through collaborative breakout room discussions about contentious topics. The event concluded with an interactive quiz that covered both the content in our handmade Leadership Summit Pamphlet and the information delivered through our guests’ speeches.
